 | The Walking Catfish... 8/20/08 |
With all of this rain that we are having, you might spot a "fish out of water" so to speak...
That would be a "walking catfish" or "airbreathing catfish" going from pond to pond... I've seen 2 so far today!
Even though the slippery walking catfish are easy to catch, scientists say people should not try to save them because the fish are an invasive species that does harm to Florida's ecosystem. The walking catfish has been in Florida since the 1960s.
So, it "tastes like chicken..."

"The beach is going off!"
Hi my friends! A quick report for your information. The water temperature on the beach is now in the mid 80's. There are a lot of Bonito, Spanish Mackerel, and a few Tarpon around. In the last 2 days of fishing we have caught 30 plus Bonito and a lot of Spanish. The Tarpon have been just rolling and not eating, but they should turn on. We have been throwing diamond jigs for the Spanish and Yo-Zuri 3d fingerlings white (tm) for the Bonitos. The best bite has been just after sun up until noon or so. God Bless and get out there and have some fun!
Capt. J.C.
